2020 marked the 10-calendar year anniversary of the European CanSat competitiveness. 

Thanks to the world wide pandemic, actual physical strategies to mark this milestone had to be cancelled. Instead, we welcome a world audience to sign up for us on 27 September for the On the web CanSat Outreach Party to rejoice this exceptional faculty task.

Released in 2010, the CanSat school task troubles learners to match all the big subsystems uncovered in a satellite, these types of as energy, sensors, and a communication system, into the quantity and shape of a smooth beverages can. The CanSat is then introduced by a rocket up to an altitude of roughly one kilometre, or dropped from a platform, drone, or captive balloon. Then its mission starts. This includes carrying out a scientific experiment and/or a know-how demonstration, attaining a risk-free landing, and analysing the information gathered. 

The project has grown from a couple collaborating teams throughout Europe in 2010 to more than 1500+ pupils taking part yearly from ESA Member and Affiliate States!

Be part of us on 27 September for the on the internet CanSat Outreach Celebration. In this livestream we’ll take a look at the CanSat job in depth. We will listen to from authorities on essential parts of the project and from alumni of earlier competitions. We even have a unique concept from an ESA astronaut! 

Then beginning 29 September the 2021 European CanSat Level of competition kicks off on the internet winners of the nationwide competitions will current their CanSats to jury associates and winners of the European levels of competition will be introduced during the awards ceremony on 8 Oct.  

The programme for the CanSat Outreach Occasion will incorporate: 

  • Welcome and introduction to the CanSat project 
  • Concept from ESA astronaut  
  • Interviews with ESA experts 
  • Commencing to create a CanSat 
  • CanSat alumni experience
  • Concluding remarks
