General public remark time period to be held Monday, Feb. 28, to Friday, March 4
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Division of Training (KDE) is in search of public remark on the state’s waiver request for momentary variations to accountability, faculty identification and reporting prerequisites in the Elementary and Secondary Training Act (ESEA) for the 2022-2023 school 12 months.
According to KDE, the general public comment period of time on the 2021-2022 COVID-19 Addendum Template to Kentucky’s point out system will be held from Monday, Feb. 28, to Friday, March 4. Community opinions will have to be gained by 5 p.m. ET on March 4.
The ask for for the waiver, which will be submitted to the U.S. Office of Education and learning (Applied), is meant to tackle the extraordinary scenario stemming from the prolonged and common college closures owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, in accordance to KDE. It also supports the development of student academic accomplishment by maintaining the integrity of Kentucky’s accountability technique.
Via the waiver, KDE is trying to get to:
- Change the timeline for its long-time period aims by two decades
- Temporarily modify the state’s methodology for pinpointing Targeted Assistance and Improvement (TSI) universities to mirror gaps in obtainable testing information
- Exempt the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 university decades from the regulatory timelines for exiting Extensive Guidance and Improvement (CSI) and Added Specific Aid and Enhancement (ATSI) standing and
- Temporarily modify the exit criteria for colleges at the moment identified with CSI or ATSI status.
